Car Chat

Last Sunday, on the way home after church, our conversation sounded something like this:

Olivia:  "Mom, do dogs have hearts?"

Me:  "Yes, that's what pumps blood through their body."

Olivia:  "Well then, we need to start praying the Dodger and Lucy accept Jesus into their hearts so they can go to heaven with us."

Me:  "That's a wonderful idea, Olivia".

If that wasn't sweet enough, the conversation got better.  I don't remember it word for word, but Spencer decided he wasn't sure if he wanted to have Jesus in his heart if it meant he had to obey him.  He didn't need any more bosses!  Still praying hard for this kid...His sister just laid it out on the line for him, though.

Olivia:  "Well, if you don't ask Jesus into your heart, you are NOT going to heaven!  You are going to HELL!  And Mom and Dad and Me are going to heaven, so you better ask Jesus into your heart if you want to go to heaven with us!"

Spencer: "Okay, I will ask Jesus into my heart."

Lately I've been wondering what it would have been like to parent Jesus as a young child.  What a neat job that would have been.  My prayer for my kids:  "And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him. " Luke 2:10
